A list of the current public enquiries and appeals that we and the council are involved in can be found on the Latest Inquiries page, however please remember that any problems with existing routes, blockages etc.. are the responsibility of the council, and need to be reported to your local bridleways officer.  Please see other links for more details on this.

South Bristol Link

Barbara Bennett attended the meeting on the 15th August about this route, which is planned to run from near the Long Ashton Park and Ride through to Hengrove.  It was a very productive meeting and there is the presumption that horse riders will allowed on this track once it has been completed.  The road surface is likely to be tarmacked due to it being a multi user path and also used by pedestrians and cyclists.

North Somerset Council Rights of Way

Unfortunately cuts in services provided by North Somerset Council are taking their toll on our attempts to get back our bridleways, therefore more than ever we need to make sure that any new rights of ways take into consideration horse riders.  If you hear of any new routes, please let us know.

Online Forum

The online Forum has been upgraded to the latest version of software, we are still getting a lot of spam from overseas, so there is now a slight delay in registration.  If you do sign on and have a problem, please email me at jcacmain@gmail.com, so that I can get you up faster!  Thanks, Julie

Winscombe Drove, Off Shoot Shelf on the A38

A public enquiry was held on the 11th September.  As both North Somerset Council and Somerset County Council were supporting this route, they paid for a rights of way expert to present the case.  We are optimistic that we will win, but you can never be one hundred percent certain.

Oakridge Lane, Winscombe, joining Windscombe Drove

We are looking for user evidence, therefore if anyone has ridden this route in the past, please contact us to let us know.  The BHS have agreed to fund some of this with us, therefore we will be able to hire an expert to present the case at Public Inquiry.

Dolemoor, Congresbury

As with Oakridge, this is still in the process of allowing for objections, so until this is concluded we will not have a date for a hearing.  The BHS have very kindly donated some money towards this public Inquiry.

Congresbury / Wrington Woods

We have asked North Somerset to bring this forward because we are concerned that riders who used the route may not feel up to atteding a Public Inquiry if it is delayed too long.  However it is unlikely to be looked at before 2014 due to cutbacks and workload.
